It has been a while since I was active in this brilliant forum. Now I want to show you two IWC movements which I call the "sister Jones'". First of all, I really love these old Jones calibers, especially when they are high grade and decorated. I am not a big fan of mariage watches, but when it comes up to Jones calibers, my heart beats faster.

Now to the sister Jones':, these two movements have the numbers "20948" and "20949". I have never seen two Jones movements with numbers following! Altough they are very similar to each other, they have small differences in the movement decoration. They are both grade "S" with "gold-chatons".

I think it's cool to own two such old movements and knowing they were produced just after each other!

They have different dials, there are two types of the IWC sign, but both hand drawn.

No longer talking, I let the pictures tell:

What made you buy two marriage watches?

@UK GREG: I just like these old Jones movements, because they were the first IWC movements ever produced. Why a marriage? I want to enjoy these legends on my wrist and don't just have it in the desk or safe. As I wrote I'm not a fan of marriages in general, but for Jones movements I make an exception.

Here in comparison to my VC Portofino:

    [i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae334/probusscafusia1868/FullSizeRender_zpsq9fcfqs9.jpg](s985.photobucket.com/user/probusscafusia1868/media/FullSizeRender_zpsq9fcfqs9.jpg.html)

For me that's just cool to see all the similarities on the "old" and "new"

by the way I have two other and more temporary sisters in my collection ;)

Well okay at least you know what they are, but....the more people who buy marriage watches the greater the destruction of the genuine article and one day someone will destroy something very special.
Quite an achievement in buying sequential numbers from watches that have been recased and well over 100 years old.

      How sad...
Suppose you buy an unique painting from a famous artist.
On it is a person dressed in blue, but you better like red.
Than you approach a skilled painter and ask him to paint the dressing in red.
Experts would disapprove and convince you not to do this.
If I was the painter , I would not accept the order.
If I was the owner, I would be ashamed about my proposal.
(Just a personal opinion, no offense).
      Kind regards,
      Adrian,
      (alwaysiwc).

You have to know that many Jones movements were delivered without case. Others were cased in the states. Some have never been cased at all. In another article I posted pictures of an early Jones movement "Romney" very early No 2345, in original IWC Metal Box, probably never cased. I understand what you want to tell, but these two movements are not modified, 100% as they were produced back in the days. I don't want that someone destroys a pocket watch for a marriage, but when you find a single movement why don't case it to enjoy it everyday.

    here's No. 2345
(by the way, this one won't be cased, because it's unique in the delivery box)

    Dear Owner!

I want to congratulate for Your special watches, but if U are a gentleman, don't forget to describe the fact that the watches came from HUNGARY, FROM MY FRIEND, WHO HAS A SPECIAL TALENT TO BUILT THIS KIND OF UNIQUE WATCHES.

I can see your logic and why you would enjoy them so much as wrist watches. They look pretty cool on the wrist.
