New models will be unveiled in just over 8 weeks. So --I thought I'd ask: what would you like to see in new models?

Sorry --no hints here: I won't comment on the correctness of any guesses. Nor is my question being posed for market research (although if you don't mind good ideas for 2010 and beyond might be read by people at IWC).

To encourage posts in this string, if 40 or more different forum members reply here, I'll award by random selection at least 5 prizes --those great "Vintage Collection" caps or sailing bags.

Please post your thoughts about 2009 below.

    Thanks.
    Michael

    VC Ardoises

that would be nice, and possible.
There is a big difference now in price between the steel ones and the platinum models, so why not, I think some of theme would be very pretty.
Maybe an excisting model but with the Da Vinci chrono caliber inside ( Big Ingenieur chrono ?)

RG versions of the Vintage Collection. I would be the first to order a RG VC inge. If these came in ardoise as well as silver dials that would be a plus.

I can't wait to see what the marketing and watchmaking geniuses in Schaffhausen have developed for us.

Although I think it is unlikely...

I'd like to see a white dial version of the VC collection. Especially the Portofino. I would buy it in a heart beat .
Secondly, I'd like to see more ceramic cases in the line of Pilot watches including the Big Pilot.
Third, how about more ardoise dials on steel watches.

    Ahhh...now that's a proposition:
"..., how about more ardoise dials on steel watches"

I second that! One can always dream :)

PC Port in SS, with blue hands and white dial.

This is my true holy grail!

I also would like to see a Port chrono with the DV movement inside. Why not a new AT2000 with 80111 movement inside? And please, no more Inge without anti-magnetic protection.

    Regards,
    Jean

My thoughts - a guess at some predictions

I would love to see the VC collection available in rhodium dials (silver or white is also for me the same) in the steel collection. The Platinum collection dials are stunningly beautiful for me - so the option of the steel cases with the platinum dials will be tops.

A Laureus blue dialed VC Ingenieur - is a dreamy thought - with a paddle seconds hand instead of the arrow-head as well.

Some limited editions of the VC collection is a prediction. Rose Gold perhaps, White gold with ardoise dials - would be a great.

I would like to see a simple complication watch - day AND date with alarm. A version with UTC would be a good idea as well - and clearly aimed for frequent travellers.

There seems to be a routine upgrade to the collection taking in turns each sub-family: and it seems the turn of the Aquatimer family. Since the Aquatimer family is currently limited to approx 10 options (which is a lot relative to other brands) this sub-family may see a revitalised look......(or maybe not at all?).

The calibre 89360 needs to appear in other models - since the Da Vinci tonneau seems to be moving slowly from some AD's (in Basel). It would be a shame to see this movement restricted to the Da Vinci family - so some way to get it into the Pilots and Ingenieur family could be exciting.....

Pocket Watch - based on the VC concept - that would be daring.

2009 may also see a limited edition collectors forum watch ?

Prediction: >75% of noveauties to be based on in-house movements.

I enjoyed thinking and tapping on my keyboard about what 2009 may bring IWC and watch lovers.

The Split Minute Split Second Aquatimer..

Ok, it might be a bit thick, but it would be fantastic. I really don't NEED to be able to measure lap times while ascending from a deep dive while keeping track of my total dive time.... but I could!! : )

    My wish...

would be a ceramic Aquatimer without any gimmicks (Chrono or depth gauge)
Awesome and cool would be a 7 day movement in it.
Wearable with a tropical rubber strap or black croc for dinner.

    greetings

    Here's a couple ideas:

A "Big Aquatimer" akin to the "Big Ingenieur" (7-day BP movement in a 45.5mm steel case).
A UTC/GMT function on an Ingenieur.
A Da Vinci minute repeater. (Not that I could afford it.)
    Bring back an alarm function.

    Good question Michael

What I would like to see is a steel Portuguese Perpetual, if possible with the double moonphase, white dial and blue hands. Like the Portuguese Perpetual 'Pisa' but not in WG for budgetary reasons.

It would be nice to see the new in-house Chrono movement in other watches too and maybe a new basic in-house movement to replace ETA movements, avoiding possible issues when delivery of them will become restricted?

    Kind regards,

    Clemens

I read your post after posting...

But it seems there are at least 2 members dreaming of the same watch! Do you prefer the simple or the double moon phase?

    Kind regards,

    Clemens

    I wish for

    A new DeepOne

    Ardoise dials in SS models

    A compass watch

A Portuguese with a dial like the first Doctor's pocket watches

    Only In-house movements

The reappearance of ll Destriero Scafusia

The Perpetual Calendar of all Perpetual Calendar Watches probably called “The Gregorian” or “Il Gregoriano” if you prefer

A “tough” Perpetual Calendar housed in the SS Ingenieur

A bigger selection in leather, nylon and rubber straps

    Thank you Michael

     Best regards
       Argiris

Thoughts about 2009: what would you like to see?

    1. The new Aquatimers (which i believe are on the way)
    2. 40 or 42 mm Mark XVI Classic in a ceramic case
