Hello everyone. First time poster here.

I was directed here by a WUS member regarding a vintage IWC I've been looking at. I was hoping to get some opinions on the watch from more experienced collectors.

What I was looking for were thoughts on the dial and case.

Just thought I'd post my concerns with this watch. To me it looks like the hour and second hands are longer than the minute markers which makes me wonder if the dial was refinished at some point.

Also I can't tell if the case has been over polished.

It's not the role of this Forum to give comments and opinions on watches that are being considered for purchase. It's for a mutual love and appreciation of IWC watches.

That being said, it's impossible to make any comments on the watch you are considering because the pictures are not of sufficient resolution and are bleached out by the lighting/flash.

If you have any doubts at all, it's best to listen to them.
Google IWC Calibre 89 and compare this piece to others you see on line.

Hello Mark and thank you for your comment.

I wouldn't have posted if not referred here by a current member who saw my post on WUS.

I have done a Google search for similar watches, as well as on ebay and completed Antiquorum auctions on their website.

But I don't know enough about these watches to make a good judgement and I was hoping more experienced collectors here could give their opinions.

    Welcome to the Forum!

Mark's got a good and valid point, this Forum is much larger than purchase support.

However, and without being much of an expert on these old cal 89's, I would say that the hands looks too modern and the dial probably redone due to the appearance of the scripts.

    Just my 2 cents...

    /Anders

    Hi Anders.

Thank you for your thoughts on this. The word Swiss seemed wrong to me but I don't know enough about these IWC models to know whether it was correct or not. Getting a second opinion was very helpful. I hadn't even thought about the hands, so thanks for that point was well.

And if I offended anyone by starting this thread I apologize, but I was forwarded here by a forum member and I mistakenly assumed that if he suggested this forum as a good place to post this request for information then it would be alright to do so.

Hi Ralph and thank you for posting your comment.

Yes I was concerned the dial was refinished. The seller insists it has not been but comparing it to similar dials it does not appear correct, especially the word Swiss and the position of the minute markers.
