NEW TRIPLE FORMATION FOR IWC’S PILOT’S WATCH SQUADRON

With no fewer than three new Boutique models, IWC Schaffhausen extends the TOP GUN Pilot’s Watch squadron. A Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar, a Big Pilot’s Watch and a Pilot’s Watch Chronograph are preparing to take off and bring more colour into the fleet. Three high-flyers with surprising details in the form of red, green and blue hands and indices are available in limited editions at IWC boutiques around the world.

The Perpetual edition is limited to 250, and other two models are limited to 500 each.

Certainly colorful - and although red and green don't appeal to me, but that blue Chrno is certainly interesting.

    A stupid question:

May the three watches used together as Computer-Monitor too:
We have RGB, so it should be possible ;-)

The watches are somehow very nice, but probably too colorfull for my colorless skin.

I wish you good luck, juznting for one of the limited watches.

    Kindest regards

    Ralph

Didn't we see them before, specifically for Harrods? In a way I recognise them. First, I didn't like them, too colourful, but seeing them on Facebook too, I kept looking at that very special red, that went quite well together with the ceramic, it was mesmerizing. So this Perpetual Calendar looks very interesting to me, but not to buy. My wife liked it too, she said it went well with the shirt I wear today!

    Kind regards,
    Paul

@ Ralph, LOL - the RGB collection !

For me it's interesting that somehow us "old hands" who posted on this todate all somehow DO NOT dismiss any of these watches outright - rather just the opposite - finding them somehow interesting.

By this statement "old hands" I am referring to those of us who already own one of more IWC watches and/or are very familiar with IWC. So we are influenced heavily by legacy - yet If we find them interesting then I can only imagine that they will appeal heavily to first time buyers.

    Hi Mark

I consider myself an "old hand". I'm old, and I have hands. Plus, to use your definition, I do own many IWC's and I am quite familiar with them.

Personally, I didn't like the models for Harrod's and I don't care for these, either. However, I respect IWC enough to admit that while not every model appeals to every person (and these certainly don't appeal to me), at least whatever IWC makes is done with care and with high quality. I suppose somebody must have bought the Harrod's models or I doubt IWC would have issued these.

Yeah, what am I missing here? Aren't these the Harrod's LEs? What, did they not sell, hence IWC opened up distribution to their boutiques?

Also, if you're gonna go all out with the freaky colors, don't forget the date wheels...

    Regards,
    Adam

Yes, I thought the same, they stand out quite a bit, I have seen that earlier on an almost night blue Big Pilot too. Do the date in the same colour and it will become about unreadable, but who cares about that if you want a special coloured watch? The years on the Perpetual are least conspicuous, which is good, but in that noticeable red would have been even better.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

@ Mark - Along with what you're saying, I think that many of us now realize that our own tastes can change in a relatively short time and consequently we are a bit more cautious in expressing our opinions. For example, in June 2006, I posted the first BP 5004 owner pictures on the Forum to a lukewarm - at best - reception. Later, some of those same critics of the "missing 9" etc., etc. purchased special edition watches identical to the BP 5004 except for the color of dial. (LOL) Similarly, a few years ago I posted pictures of the "Tribute to Japan" Special Edition Big Pilot to the same sort of reception and some of those same Forum members now own the DFB Special Edition BP. (LOL)

    Tracy,
I loved that Japan edition. It was already sold out by the time I found out about it. The DFB is basically the same watch. But the red hands are an addition to its allure.

These are the Harrods's watches. Or am I dreaming?

So it is no longer exclusive to Harrods, great for those who love it and coming to your store nearby.

IMHO, I hope iwc will not continue to travel towards the path of rainbow color watches like some other brand that will distort the distinctive classic pilot design.

Given the popularity of another watch company that makes large watches and uses various color themes and case materials, these will probably sell just fine. They are not for everyone but they are for someone and they will surely find a loving home.

some wrists shots. as is often the case, in person they are much more impressive.

I'm open minded about these, and looking forward to trying them on.
I find the blue version interesting but wrist view will tell me more.
Who will be next to post so "in the flesh" photos?

The Green Giant, hands down the most impressive... these watches are meant to make as statement, and that IMO makes a lasting impression.
