Next weekend I'm going to visit my son, who is living in a distance of some
270 km from where we live.
I will ride on my pedal bike from the early 1990ies with the frame completely
made of Titanium (the legendary Colnago Bi-Titanio), a complete Campy Record
Titanium group set and: -------- A IWC Porsche Titanium compass watch! No
Sat Nav or Google Maps, no electronics at all, simply paper maps and the
compass watch to navigate from landmark to landmark.
Two days shall do, departing on Friday morning, arriving on Saturday
afternoon.
So the compass watch back in the environment it was designed for! And the
whole set, bike, watch and everything else besides the cleats for the shoes
completely amagnetic - so in case I encounter any mines (not very realistic
of course) I can sweep the mines without causing a detonation due to magnetic
fields.
Would like to see again more of such iconic watches with intriguing technical
features like the compass watch, the Ocean 2000 AMAG and the Ingenieur 500,000
A/m (the latter or the Ingenieur pocket watch Ref 5215 normally in use on the
bike).
