It's supposed to be Spring here but at 0 degrees Celsius and a wind from the east gusting at almost 40 knots, this is how it looks in the Marina right now:

Our sturdy Hurley 22 (not in this picture) is hanging in there till better times arrive. In the mean time, I have been playing (again, sorry if you get tired of me) with my camera and a few watches.

I still use the Focus Stacking technique described earlier ((Previous post) and today the subjects were my first IWC, the St Exupéry Chrono from 2006 and the Spitfire UTC.

First attempt with the St Ex Chrono: still some reflections in the corner at 11 o' clock:

    Final result:

    sibon.triple-it.nl/images/stories/StEx/371709_20130324_2.jpg

And the same for the Spitfire UTC:

I made a gray card to use for the Custom White Balance option but after the photoshoot I discovered that the camera reverts to the saved settings each time I switch it on. This means Auto White Balance. I changed the saved settings so next time I will see what the differences are. In the pictures above, I used the Gimp software to adjust the color levels afterwards. I left the colors of the St Ex a bit 'warmer' than the 'automatic' result from Gimp, it just looks nicer and the brown dial with the Sunburst pattern is shown more clearly.

    Kind regards,

    Clemens

    Aloha Clemens -

I was also experimenting this rainy weekend here in Honolulu.

Here is a picture that I took with a vintage Vivitar Series 1 90mm macro lens (Nikon mount) that I bought from the second-hand shop for $10 and mounted on my Sony NEX camera just for fun.

One reason that I like the Sony NEX camera series is the availability of inexpensive after-market adapters for old 35mm camera lenses.

PS: Here are a few other vintage 35mm lenses that I use just for fun (L-R):

    Leica 60mm Macro-Elmarit w/extension tube
    Nikon 55mm Micro-Nikkor w/extension tube
    Canon 55mm FL 1.2
Carl Zeiss Jena 50mm w/extension tube
Minolta 50mm MD Rokkor w/extension tube

It's pretty easy to get old 35mm lenses at charitable second-hand shops for a fraction of their original cost and I re-donate them after I'm done with them.

    Great pictures.

Tracy, some setup - but great to see those legacy lenses put to work!

Well, in your old homestead, Alan, it's snowing today. We have about 5 cm on the ground with more to come. No watch shots in the elements that I can share. I'm staying indoors.
