+1!
Thanks Michael. Good to see that Mr Kern had a great ride! I saw that Andrew finished his ride too so that's great news on all fronts!
To stick to the Laureus theme: this was my travel-watch on my way to our holiday address in France this weekend:
Kind regards,
Clemens
Wow, R-E-S-P-E-C-T for all who participated!
Best,
Bob
Hi everyone.
Indeed we ended successfully. I crossed Georges Kern at a Time Station in Chur where he was about to do his really tough stage -
Climbing incessantly up to Linzerheide.
My team the Roche Riders did great and we raised so far around 4100 Euro for Laureus but the donation link is still open for another week.
All donors will be added into a drawing where they have the chance to win some Laureus, TorTour and IWC gifts. Some really nice ones.
Thank you to everyone who donated so far to Laureus and thanks to those in advance waiting to do it.
In our category our team finished in 4th place.
We surprised our support team and ourselves by being 3 hours 40 min ahead of schedule. It meant that our team were not present to give us water from time to time but we didn't dehydrate.
The spirit of the TorTour challenge was really great. I seen several instances of teams helping each other. When I was riding from 0147-0518 I noticed a competitor whose back light had run out of battery. That gives a 15 min time penalty. I had a spare one in my tricot so as I passed him (he had stopped - I wasn't quick enough to pass him when he was cycling) I offered him my spare one.
We also noticed one of our competitors in our category get lost. I asked my support team to follow the rider and then we helped them get back on track.
I wore the Laureus Portuguese Yacht Club during the ride.
We also surprised everyone by being 2nd in the prolog ! I am not a climber and the "wall" adjacent to the RheinFalls is a killer.

Andrew --hooray! Thanks for your special post.

Congratulations to your team and you, Andrew! We appreciate the first-hand report!
I am checking back in to apologize.
I didn't have the chance to do the drawing yet and this week I am just back from holiday and therefore the charity link is still open until the end of the week.
All donors will be entered into the drawing. Good luck to all those who supported. Here is a photo of the many items available to share including the IWC Image Book, Cufflinks, Belts, Volvo Ocean Race caps, IWC Polo Shirt (the bottom left) and the Laureus items.
There are a wide number of winners here. I have contacted most of you where I have your email address but I have a few still missing.
If you see your name below and haven't already sent me your mailing address please do so ASAP.
Congratulations and I hope you can share here your prize in due course.

I think that's everyone. There are also many other winners who are not IWC forum members who are not listed here.
I got it !!!!
Thanks a lot Mr. Thomas !!!!
Sorry for this bad picture
Delighted it arrived safely. The Laureus YC and cap are a perfect pair.
Thanks Andrew - my cap and water bottle arrived safely, perfect for a fellow cyclist :-)
Andrew, I got my IWC Portofino belt. Many thanks!
Don't have a Portofino but hope these brown strapped cousins will suffice...

Thang
Andrew - congratulations on a great ride. Very well done. And thank you very much to you, Laureus and IWC for providing prizes that are not necessary but much appreciated. I can't post a photo of my book since, as you know, I'll wait to pick it up next time I'm in Switzerland rather than have you ship it across the ocean.
Andrew,
I look forward to receiving my Laureus shirt which I will proudly wear along with my blue dial YC beauty.
Thanks for taking the time to spread the word about the good works of the Laureus Foundation.
Hi Andrew,
When I came back from a meeting at the office, I found a nice yellow box waiting at my desk:
Needless to say, I immediately looked at the address and saw it was you who sent it and I proceeded to open it:
A beautiful blue color was welcoming me, I had no idea yet what it was...
Getting it out of the box revealed a beautiful shirt!
Without the plastic it's even more beautiful!
Unfortunately the picture from the back didn't come out as good as it looks in real life:
I didn't have my Ingenieur Vintage Edition Laureus with me but I promise that I will make a picture of the shirt and the watch ASAP. If you're lucky, I won't be in it. If not, you are warned beforehand :-)
Thank you again Andrew for the wonderful work you do for the Laureus foundation and sharing that passion with us. I think I can safely say that I speak for all of us by thanking you and wishing our best to all the Laureus participants and children who benefit from this work.
Kind regards,
Clemens
This week a small gift arrived also at my address. Very unexpected but the more appreciated! Thanks a lot !
Here is the picture of the IWC crew. The rest stayed under the deck ;o) Only the YC skipper is still missing :o(
[I remove photos older than 4 years, sorry.]
Andrew, first of all congratulations again for this incredible achievement.
Thanks so much for the shirt. Here some pictures of it:
I hope that one day I will have the pleasure of cycling together with you.
