Hey there, I've been searching around the net for a little while trying to identify(and subsequently appraise)this timepiece. It's proving to be harder than I expected. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Androo

114 views and not a single comment? Is this IWC that odd?

    Yes, it is that odd.

In the late 1970s IWC made numerous variations of watches which might be considered "jewelry watches", often with attached bracelets. These frequently had small production runs of a handful for each model. I'll bet your watch is one of those, and many were not in catalogs.

I suggest you Google "IWC vintage catalog project". I've posted most known old IWC catalogs there. Check out those from the mid-70s on. At least it's worth a check.

I've had a peek at the old archived catalogues and haven't found anything yet... The font on the dial seems to match REALLY old timepieces circa 1900-1910 stuff..

I'll keep poking around, I'll let you guys know what I find!

    Thanks Michael

    Cheers,
    Androo

The font on the numerals --a kind of italicized Arabic numeral-- is called "Breguet" and was used on watches 200+ years ago. It's a classic font still used on some watches today. I wouldn't use it for figuring out the date of a watch.

I meant in the IWC vintage catalogues, same font in the 1914 catalogue to be specific...

When you want a comment, I can give you a comment on teh watch:

When original IWC (we need to see insode of back and case and movement incl numbers) the it would be from the 1960's (or 1980's)

    Dial: most probably repainted
Bracelet: When original it should have some IWC markings
Crown: cabochon most probable not original.

As mentioned before We need to see the insode of teh watch.

But most probably this are not the info you'd like to see here.

    Kindest regards

    Ralph

These are the pics of backing and movement...

    Movement#1164100
    Back cover#1172436

So if my research is correct, it's a Cal 89, Movement from 1950-55, and case from 1945-1960..

    That sound about right?
