    Dear Catherine,

now I have got the photos. Fortunately the juwelier had taken some photos also which he provided me in print out format. See photos below. I look forward to your comments on the watch.

As you can see the case number is 1032968 and the movement number 981251. Do you know, based on these numbers, in which year the watch was produced.

Thank you in advance for your reply.

    Best Regards,

    Daniel

Thanks Daniel..i dont place such scrutiny to numbering i'm afraid..it's possible nowadays to have correct numbering in a fake/made-watch..so i tend to blank the numbering and look at the watch...that said...i thought 9*** would have been non shock jewel..no drama either way.

Looks like youve got a reasonably uncommon over restored offering from Shaffhausen.

    Thanks for showing

Thanks for your Message. Do you know what Kind of reference the Watch could be, e. g. Red. 308 etc. ?

Welcome to the forum, Daniel! Great to have you here. Your vintage IWC pilot watch sounds like a beautiful find—especially with the Caliber 83 movement, which is a strong indicator of authenticity from that era. The 35 mm case size also aligns well with mid-century IWC designs. You might want to share a few clear photos of the dial, case back, and movement—this would help the community give you more accurate feedback.

Funny enough, I was recently browsing through the Shake Shack Menu while reading posts here, and your story definitely made me pause—vintage pieces like yours have that kind of charm that even great food can’t distract from!

It is looking that way Daniel..it may be intresting to see if the archives had it booked to be any type of flyer when the original dial was unmolested.

    Hi Daniel,

according to the ledgers, your movement was produced in 1938, the case number leads to 1940. The calibre 83 in your watch is a very early example using the incablock schock absorbing system.

Hello Crom...i thought the first use of inca in a c.83 was in the 1xxx's?

    Hi Catherine,

your comment is raising an interestig question. The first Cal. 83 designated with INCA where starting with movement no.: 1069001 form the year 1943. But in Daniels watch there is clearly a shock protection device like Incablock on the balance cock.
