Breakings News...this just in. IWC is pleased to announce that the unique piece Petit Prince Perpetual Calendar Edition “Le Petit Prince” was sold at Sotheby’s Geneva Auction of Important Watches for CHF 173’000.The full amount will be donated to the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation and benefit the construction of a school with a library in Cambodia.

This unique piece is an edition of 1 in platinum. To my knowledge it might set a record for an IWC at auction (I do need to check on some Il Destriero Scafusia resales to be sure). Regardless, this is a magnificent price for a magnificent piece and a really good cause.

    Fantastic news Michael.

What a great cause. Congratulations to the team, the buyer, and A. de Saint-Exupery Youth Foundation.

That is pretty amazing. I wonder what expectations were before the auction?

Does not surprise me as the LPP BP and the LPP 17 editions are beautifully designed pieces. Congratulations to the team that put these well thought out models together.

Big congrats to the buyer, the foundation and to IWC for providing the Platinum variation for auction.

BTW, anyone know if it came with a plaque ?

Fantastic result for the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation and the children who can fully benefit from the construction of a school with a library in Cambodia. Great job IWC.

I think there can't be a bigger pleasure than:
    - owning a BP Petit Prince AND
    - owning it in Platinum AND
    - owning the 1 out of one piece AND
    - knowing that with the money you paid for it a school in Cambodia will be constructed!

Congratulations to the buyer and at the same time thanks to him for supporting such a good cause.

You made my day! Knowing that many kids will benefit from it. Nothing is more satisfying than this....hey wait a minute...I think the owner would be on top of the world by now.

This is only good news, which we need more of these days. I'm so happy for the kids who will benefit, and congrats to the new owner. Nice gesture from IWC!

A remarkable achievement. The catalogue did not disclose an estimate. There were some spectacular prices paid for watches at that auction and there were some surprising watches that did not reach the reserve. It would be nice to think that Sotheby's passed on the premium to the charity.

What a great result for a good cause. Kudos to IWC for participating. I share Ralph's hope that Sotheby's was similarly generous.

Indeed a great boost to a wonderful cause. Many thanks to IWC for making this possible.

And of course to the new owner - for being so generous in helping a great charity.
