Hi everyone. I have recently purchased this model and I'm desperate to find some more information on it. I have looked on all the usual databases but have been unlucky so far. Does anyone on the forum have any idea what this model is?
I'm not sure whether it's vintage or not so I will try this and the onstage forum just in case.

Any chance you could expand on that particular theory in order to help me in the future.
my answer is not a theory, it is a fact. Only the stamp 750 and the word steel on the case should be a sign that something is not OK. The casnumber is not OK, the dial, the movement...
Apologies for implying that it was theory. I am genuinely trying to learn and saying dial, 750, steel, movement does nothing to help me understand.
If these things are indeed wrong why are they wrong.
I have many watches in my collection, all genuine. There is nothing about this particular watch that yells obvious fake to the average watch enthusiast who is not completely familiar with the brand.
Please be patient with someone who is genuinely trying to learn. That’s how experts become experts.
The 750 is a stamp, stating that the case is made of 18K gold. When you see that stamp on a case that says steel, you know something is off.
When you research the different models of IWC on their website or on sales platforms and don't recognize the dial, or the movement, chances are real that is isn't a genuine IWC.
Sometimes fakes are even for experts difficult to spot, sometimes they are not. Especially this one with a case number that wrong in every way. Watch number 00449 should have been made before 1870...
Thanks for that. I was unaware of the gold mark so will store that away for next time. I assumed the 00449 was part of a limited run as happens with some other manufacturers.
I didn’t part with much money for it as it was in a charity shop and, despite stories to the contrary, gems are rarely found this way. Although I suspected it was probably not the real thing it was money to a good cause so I’m sanguine either way. It’s all part of the learning curve.
