I posted this before I saw this thread. It's a total of 11 for me.

Late responding, but since there is an effort to >

compile statistics that might be useful to Schaffhausen to understand the importance of this forum and the collector members, my number is 11 IWC's (and as far as Richmond is concerned one non IWC, but a Richmond brand nonetheless).

    My collection is:

    PPC 5022 in RG
    Portuguese Automatic in RG 5001
    VC Portofino Moonphase
    AT 2000 white dial
    Ingenieur 3327
    Laureus Chrono
    St. Exupery Power Reserve
    Porsche Design Titan Chrono
    RG Cal 89
    Golf Club
    Der Doppel Chronograph 3711

    Plus a Lange 1 WG

    Dear David…

You have a false dilemma in your mind. Quantitative and qualitative approaches are complementary, one not exclude the other. Even if you had decided to talk only about the “quality” of your collection you are compelled, explicit or implicit, to count the pieces of the collection you are talking about. So, quantity ALWAYS counts.

The main objective of my post was: satisfy my curiosity about a number and have fun sharing our passion with others forum fellows. If you want to talk about the quality of your collection omitting the number of your watches go on, but I guess this will be difficult. Try and you’ll find out how relevant the numbers are for you.

    About your points:

“The value of a collection comes from "inside", not from a number.”

I concur with you, but it doesn’t mean that I can’t count and I didn’t ask about: “The value of”… any thing but about a number.

“Also, when I want to compare with others I do not compare the numbers, but the pieces and the personal value you assign to them.”

My intention wasn’t to compare myself with anybody but just knowing our numbers as forum community and sharing passion and fun.

Let me tell you, respectfully, that I clearly see why Michael deleted your post. You can easily sustain your points and friendly share with us your number at the same time, but you decided to adopt a confrontational position: i.e. “David - not counting his IWCs”. So, Good luck with your uncountable collection.

    Regards,
    M
