Vintagew Boxes are getting rare, due to loss or damage by mold, eg.

So, it is always fortunenate to find such rare items, especially in perfect shape.

I wonder, which model would fit to this big golden box.

Those golden boxes were usual in the 70s to early 80s.

I checked it with a rare ref. 5215. It fits, but I have no confirmation yet, that it is really a box for the first tranche of Ing. PWs ?!

Has anyone else seen such a box before ?

    Regards

    Hi Hebe

The Ref 5215 apprears the first time 1982 in the catalogs.
The catalogs (and probably also the bas IWC color) became "white" latest 1981, so I belive the golden boxes are limited only to the 1970's (where also the catalog had a gold colour). Before we had the brown ones.

But it is interesting how good the Inge PW with its original chain fits in this box. As the Inge PW is quite big, also the box needs to be bigger. I have few golden PW boxes which are much smaller (probbly for ref 5250 or ref 530x)

    kind regards

Tanks Ralph, those infos are identical to my knowledge.

This white box fits most probably to the second tranche, launched at the early 90s.

The ordinary golden box fits as well for the 5215.

But that big golden one is stunning.

    Beste Grüße

An amazing find. It is interesting to know how you can discover what box belongs to which watch. I ask the question because in the old catalogues the watches, especially pw's have been depicted most of the times without their box.
    Kind regards,

Hello Heiko, could it be for a ref 5250 ?
I once bought a 5251 in the same size golden box ( not the same inside ), with origninal papers.
