Fantastic pic Ben.
Lovely AT as well :o)
Very very nice Aquatimer!
In my opinion the most attractive vintage Aquatimer.
Nice pictures. Can you post a picture from the caseback?
Hi All,
I have the chance to acquire an Aquatimer Vintage in white gold. While I generally prefer stainless steel to gold / white gold, the grey dial of the white gold Aquatimer Vintage just got to me. Actually, I already have the Aquatimer Sharks edition with grey dial!
Now, I have a question about the white gold. I have done some google and it seems white gold in its original form, is not really silvery, but grey (depends on the actual composition of the alloy). The silvery color we see on white gold jewelry is really by some coating / plating of another metal, like palladium or platinum.
So, my question is, if the above is true, then if I want to do some polishing (by IWC of course) to the case to take out some scratches, would it take out the coating and reveal the base metal?
Thanks,
Michael
Congratulations for Your WG Aquatimer! Please post a photo of that beauty.
Regarding Your question, There are different variations of white gold, some require plating and some don't. I don't know to which category the WG used in Vintage Collection belongs.
Don't worry too much about scratches. Even if the watch would need replating, it is a relatively simple operation for IWC.
