I came across this beauty today and cannot find much information online.

The dial carries the royal Crest of the Sultanate of Oman.

Sultan Qaboos gifts watches to Omanis in public service.

This one looks from the 70ies. What would be its model reference number?

I love the bark finishing on case and bracelet.

I believe its 18 carat gold?

Can anyone elaborate about the value of this
watch and if it's a rare model?

    Thank you in
    advance.

I am not sure, I understand the question fully, but in this case its watch
only. No other items such as box or papers are existing. If you google Khanjar
Rolex for example you will find many watches with the royal crest of Oman.

I would like to know more about this type of IWC watch.

Your opening four words in your first post are " i came across this"....what
    does that specifically mean?

These watches were especially made for Oman. The luxury appearance was
appreciated more in the Middle-East than in Europe or the US.

The special bark finish was also present on Ladies watches loaded with
diamonds. I have seen a rare IWC compass watch in 18 kt gold with golden
bracelet in the same finish. The coat of arms is present on many other IWC
models in gold from the 1980's ( Ingenieur, Yacht Club). The interest for
collectors seems to be limited. It is a niche market.

    Adrian,

It has been offered to me for purchase. I might consider adding it to my
    collection.

Do you have more details about the model in question to share or not ?

    Dear Adrian,

Thank you for your details. I knew that much too, living in the U.A.E. I see
plenty of Saudi, Emirates and Omani government symbols on the dials, mostly
Rolex though in full gold, 2tone or SS versions.

I am particularly interested which model and ref nr the IWC watch has that I
posted and a fair market price.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Mehdi

    Mehdi,

Given the time when it came out, this is probably a cal. 8531 or 8541. These
are the same excellent calibres as found in the vintage Ingenieurs or Yacht
Clubs. However to be sure we need an image from the movement and the movement
number. As these Oman models were so rare and precious, several of them were
never depicted in sales brochures. The price is another problem. As these
bling bling pieces were not the taste of hard core IWC collectors, this group
of potential buyers will pay less than those who are struck by its appearance.
The latter will see it as a piece of jewellery rather than a milestone in
    horology.

    Regards,

    Adrian.

I am assuming that English is not your primary language? It's a common idiom
for "I saw this..." or "I found this..."

about the model that i inquired beside your interest in my languages?

Wishing you and your family a safe and Happy Easter Holidays amid the C-19
