    Hi!

I am new on forum but horology admirer on max. :-)

I recently bought an IWC c83 at a local fair (see pictures attached in post).
The owner says that it has been like that since the first day and that nothing
has changed but I doubt about the second hand. It is black now and i is not
gold like minute and our hands.

The watch is 34mm diameter and 20mm lugs. c83 is from 1937, and case is from
    1940.
    Your opinion? Is it
    legit?

20mm lugs on a 32mm case is a great look, makes me ponder how we got to the
state we're in now ( needing smash proof limited edition materials in order to
not nosedive a 20mm deep watch into life in general)

Dont sweat the blacked hand...once the dial company blacked the sub dial
    increments they had options.

Thank you very much, indead on your answer, and I think that I will take this
peace of history to good service (historic c83) and enjoy on it.

I had little bit suspissed about second hand because I saw many peaces with
gold but this gold are not with dial like mine and not this age ie. year of
    production.

I saw that this case is unusual too, because this years cases are 30.5 but
dial on this cases is smaller too. I conclude that this my dial is made for
    this case for sure.

Only second hand were suspisius but now you give me an explanation for this
and I decide to keep this watch for me.

Finally I love vintage watches as much as new one :-)

    C. once a time , thank you and enjoy to watch life :-)

I believe that seconds hand is original. I have seen others like that.

    two options here;

    a) send watch to The Wizards of Schaffhausen for a SPA service. Expensive, but
will come back like new / the day it originally left the manufacturer more
    than half a century ago.

    b) have a local (but competent) watchmaker service the movement and keep the
rest of the watch / patina as is.

Are you sure the hand is BLACK?

It could be blued steel, that has tarnished to appear black. Examine the hand
under strong light with a loupe and tilt it to and fro to get an impression of
    the material.

If it is black, then it is as Catherine has stated.

    Lovely watch :o)
