I bought the below watch in 2015 and realised I have no exact detail on what
it is. From googling I suspect a late 40's/early 50's cal.83 but cant find any
other with a face showing only 12, 3 and 9.

I'm thinking this dial has been repainted.
The numerals should be applied - also the dots remaining are remnants of
battons that have been lost for example:
It appears to have chicken pox!
Indeed,it does look like that from afar but up close, the dots are perfect
circules, evenly raised from the face on all sides. It wouldnt be possible
to paint and get this. I need to investigate further. I will trawl throuhg my
emails 5 years ago and find the seller.
The dial format is original and known.
