The most elegant IWC movement
The most elegant IWC movement
Certainly very very elegant!
Thanks (love the front too ;-) )

Is this what Schaffhausen today call a "Dolphin Tail"?
Very nice watch ... only wondering if the watch was once dropped ?
it looks like the finger of the regulator (circled here) is bent?
Yes, I threw it against the wall a couple of days ago. ;-)
I deem the nickel version even more elegant! Here the 21 jewels version in an
original to the watch old silver case with a display back, rated as first
class chronometer at Neuchatel.
And Mark: As you can see all fishtails have that curved regulator, which
follows the shape of the cock.

Hmmm, the system does not accept the pic. No matter, let's take another nickel
chronometer 1st class rated Cal. 71
I can well understand - this cabin fever is getting to us all.
Fortunately, I have still a Fishtail too (no Dolphins here!), so now I need to
go check on that regulator indicator .... unless someone else shows theirs.
Can't wait to see a picture - please share.
Thomas, how many civilian watches were made with C.71?
It appears 300 civilian were made in 1904 and another 300 in 1917 of which
only about 60 are civilian, the rest unsold or converted into centre seconds
watches for the Royal Navy in 1939.
Hope this helps.
Thomas
Holy guacamole! That's stunningly beautiful.
Indeed- so beautiful!

I agree. The Nickel finishing and the cotes de Geneve render the cal 71 even
more elegant, but which were unnecessary in a movement for a military watch.
Here are 3 "fishtails": Deck watch .71, civilian nickel case c.71
and a 18K gold huntercase c.72
Hello Dr. Aberle
could you please contact me via email? I have some questions regarding your
fishtails you might be reluctant to discuss on the forum.

Very pleased to see you back here again, Dr, Aberle - and what great watches

The IWC fishtail pocket watch movements....
Always a great pleasure to see them. Most probably really the nicest movement
ever built by IWC.
So there are in the market about 612 c.71 and and little more than 300 c.72
(of the the second lot only few where finished I think)
When you can find one you are lucky and happy when you even have 2 you feel
flying, with 3 you are mostly in the stratosphere.
Some are on the Moon or even the Mars. Ok I also feel at least flying. :-)
I want to fly too Ralph ...
