Hi all
looking for consenus opinions on winders, i have previouly stayed away from winders chosing to set the watch each time i wear it.
however recently i have been thinking atbout picking up either a dual or a quad winder to house the folloiwng
what are peoples thoughts on the saving on setting vs wear on the movemnts etc?
also whats the right TPD and rotational direction for two 8 day iwc (5004/5007)

If you follow regular service recommendations, using a winder should not be a problem as any worn parts would be replaced during servie. The lubrications that naturally break down necessitate servicing and using a winder should not reduce service intervals. I used to be a winder user, mostly for my perpetual calendar, but found that if you don't wear a mechanical watch for quite some time, the time can deviate a bit and the watch ends up needing to be reset anyhow.
As for your 8 day movements - I've only experimented with the single barrel variety (c.51xxx) and found that 420 bi-directional rotations per day suffice.

In the past I used one...
However I found out that you would really need one for a perpetual calendar so you would not bother to set it after some days of not wearing it.
But I am of the opinion that you should give your watch a rest and one of the pleasures when you pick up again is to set it...
