I've been looking for this complication for quite some time and I finally found a mint example! I am thrilled. I doubt it will take the experts here on the IWC forum long to identify this somewhat "vintage" IWC. : ) Let the game begin!

Spitfire dopplechronograph, black dial (pre-2006)
Spitfire double chrono Ref 3713-33?
I knew that would not take long.
Correct. 3713-38 I believe. I am very impressed with this watch. It is a great size at 42mm and the bracelet is very nice. It is quite dressy and looks great in the office. The Split Second complication is a lot of fun and actually useful! It is a great addition to my GST Perpetual as it is a bit less imposing and the black dial seems a bit more modern. As many of you who frequent this forum know I've been interested in the new 44mm spitfire Doppel, but the larger size and more sporty coloring kept me from following through.
Enjoy the photos (as there will be many in the coming months I'm sure!).

"Nad Shot" movie on way to office
A few more...
The way the silver numerals catch the light against the black contoured dial is just great.

wow - loaks great : photo- and movie-genic(nt)
Hi Jeff! Great watch!
It was quite easy as I own its little sister (Spitfire Fliegerchronograph black dial, ref. 3706). And like you, I enjoy it a lot as it spends most of my wrist time.
Regards,
Jean
