How great it is to do business with an AD that is part of a chain of AD's throughout the country. In the past this helped me to get the limited edition Saint Exupéry Chrono, last year it helped me to get the white dial Portofino Eight Days Handwound. This year I really didn't plan anything, but wanted to see the new Spitfire Chrono on the bracelet and decide what to do based on what I saw. But I never saw the watch at any AD I visited. So I went to the AD in Zermatt I did business with last year, and explained what I wanted. I showed the model in the new catalogue (very beautiful indeed) and she went to the company site. There was one in the country, she could get it for me, no strings attached. Today I saw the watch. Now, about two hours after my visit to see it, it sits beautifully on my wrist, it is mine.
This is such a beautiful watch. As often, pictures, though beautiful, like in the catalogue, don't do it fully justice. The polished and brushed parts of the case make it a very refined watch indeed, certainly when combined with the ardoise dial, making the whole watch less hard, a bit less of a tool watch when compared to the black dialed watches. The bracelet not only looks magnificent, better than on pictures, but it is very supple on the wrist. The micro adjustment feature works fantastic, I already used it once to give it just a bit more space. The size is just right, this watch is just made for me: I think I am a bit enthousiastic right now. I already made some good looking pictures of it, but you will have to wait until I am back.
Winding the watch is a bit special, it feels different from other movements I had so far. The chrono, with its fly-back, is quite a treat, a nice toy. The triple date window looks very nice and balanced, I guess it looks nicer in real life than on pictures. This certainly is true for the Mark XVII that looks fantastic too. For that price it is the best looking watch in the catalogue. Maybe...
Kind regards,
Paul
