    Greetings Michael et alia,
Back at home from a wonderful time in the Bordeaux wine region from where I have been but following, infrequently, the new forum in its new form. It appears that my brain is incapable of dealing with, car travel, excellent wines, gourmet foods and vintage IWCs at the same time. :-))
Thanks IWC and Michael for giving us a better place to express our passion.
This may still be the perfectest summer, if only the CF da Vinci arrives.
    Best to all

    Hi Tomasz

See the following on How to Post Images

    www.iwcforum.com/PostImages.html

Copy the address of the image (it will probably end in jpg)
To display it here click on the image icon, the one with the green hills and moonphasewww.iwc.com/system/modules/helpdesk/themes/default/images/image24.png
and you will see the following, but with square brackets rather than round

    (img)(/img)

Insert the address of the image between the centre brackets, either with your mouse or holding down the Ctrl and v together on your keyboard, it will look like:

    (img)www.gregsteer.net/IWC/I_Images/LCH_1949_p049_IWC.jpg(/img)

Click on the screen with the magnifying glass iconwww.iwc.com/system/modules/helpdesk/themes/default/images/preview24.png
to preview it and post the reply when you are satisfied.

If you still have problems feel free to email me or send me a copy of your image: cellar@gregsteer.net

    Cheers from the cellar

    Hallo Michael,
Earlier this year there was information on the IWC web site regarding a new Cousteau Aquatimer chronograph model. I even have a picture of it on my iPhone.
However, I can no longer find any information regarding the new Cousteau model, which I have enquired about at a couple of boutiques and was told that it would be released later this year.
Do you have any information regarding the release date?
    Thank you - Russell.

Russell --sorry, I have not heard anything further. Normally I would just call or e-mail a boutique for details.

    Good luck.

Thank you Michael - I have contacted an AD nearest to me and they are looking into it for me.
    Cheers...

Russell --I'm not 100% sure about the model you're referencing, but if it is the one with the metallic dial then I believe that may boutique-only.

My watch's serial number is 1543186 one with the name Beyer underneath IWC. Could anyone tell me anything about it?
    Thanks,
    Domingo

    Hi Domingo,

If you could, a post like yours should be in the Vintage section here.

Is your serial number on the case or the movement? Do you have a photo?

I'm guessing your watch is from the early 1960s. Beyer is a major watch retailer in Zurich.

    Hi Michael,

First of all, please excuse myself if I'm not supposed to send you this mail and I would be glad if you would like to refer me to anyone else for an answer.

My husband has been a loyal collector of IWC since long ago and this year I'm planning to buy him an IWC watch as a gift of surprise. By simple logic, it is quite certain that he would love to see this gift. Unfortunately and shamfully, I have nowhere close to understanding watch so I have zero clue on the latest models. I tried to go to a few watch shops in Hong Kong (where I am living) to ask for help and I have a strong feeling that the sales persons didn't have full knowledge of the 'latest' model except that they're very passionate to sell me a watch.

I know I could do further search in different sources but ....I'm running out of time. I need to get the gift within next few days for special reason......I'm thus wondering if you could advise me. I'm sure he hasn't collected any model launched in 2010 yet cos he's superbusy this year.

    • the latest models in 2010 which is
      1)automatic
2)the top 3 to 5 best sellers with high regard and word of mouth from the collectors here (so that I would know i won't be too wrong buying that item)
      3)if possible, availability in HK

    appreciate your help.

    Hi birmansammy,

I guess you are in a difficult position, where you may secretly disappoint your husband by buying not the right watch while spending quite some money. Of course, you may be in a position to exchange the watch later, but that takes the fun away greatly. As we, I, don't know what watches your husband has or likes, we are in a difficult position too: we, I don't know enough, for instance the budget you have for this splendid gift.

I would suggest a different line of action, especially since you are in a hurry. Present to your husband an invitation to the nicest IWC AD that you know, with the intent to buy him the watch of his desire. I'm quite sure he will be over the moon by this gift, and awkward disappointments are avoided. After the buy, with his new watch on his wrist, you can go on and celebrate with a nice dinner, making it an unforgettable occasion. Good luck!

    Kind regards,
    Paul

    Hi birmansammy,

Feel free to write me on individual purchase decisions: my e-mail address is mrriedberg@iwcforum.com.

Also every IWC boutique in Hong Kong has really informed and appropriate staff. Ask for the manager (like Gary at the Flagship Boutique in Kowloon) or the assistant manager.
