Nos. 1 and 2 for me --
Can't find a decent strap in my area that I would want to change with the original. I work in an A/C'd office all day, so its no big deal. The only time I won't wear mine is playing golf, but that's no good for a PPC anyway!

1 & 2
I am in the #1 camp, however>>
I do find watches on bracelets to be more comfortable in summer than watches on straps.
Absolutely true. nt
Hmm, I rinsed my mouth, with coffee
I thought I might provoke some of you, quite intentionally, to make sure that a clear point-of-view could be taken. Although I admire those who break maybe silly conventions just for the fun of it, my actions (and those count) are quite careful. My Portuguese watches will keep their leather straps. No. 2 is my choice, but I learned here that no. 1 is not too bad either due to the quality of the straps. Well done!
Kind regards,
Paul, wearing steel VC Portuguese, with its nice black croc strap
Now that I am in a semi-arid climate no worries...
And if it is too hot or wet there's rubber!
You have so much rain in NL Paul...No wonder it is green everywhere!

I have never worn watches with leather strap in summer, so much better to wear a wonderful ocean bund both with titan or velcro strap....
5, 2. Call me reactionary>
Dear Flyrobyfly:
I take your point about the Portuguese tradition calling for a leather band. On the other hand, the Mark series, I believe, started out as strap-only and only later embraced steel bracelets--which may be less traditional but seem to be widely accepted these days. So tradition need not be unbending.
Cheers!
Donald
I think you
are right about the Mark series Donald, even if the Bonklip bracelets were introduced pretty soon after Marks appearance.
I think it's harder for the Portuguese line to be suited with a bracelet, Portuguese's pure shapes not just look better on strap, they're simply uncompatible with bracelets - imho. A bracelet would give the Port a heavier look (see for instance the results on the overall look of a classic design watch like the Lange 1) without improving its charme - always imho.
But I take your point to reconsider my thought, after all who said it's impossible for IWC to design a great bracelet to fit perfectly the Portuguese?
Kind Regards,
roberto
A combination of no.1 and no.2
I like to wear it all the time.
Thanks for the endorsment!!!

Trying to 'bite my tongue'...
I am 100% with Richard on this, just look at how nicely that strap has aged and how well it enhances the beauty of the watch.Beautiful combination on a wonderful watch.
Not sure why, but my straps are in excellent condition, my first contact with the Portuguese of the tape is still as good as new, really want to use my straps so that only gives me the opportunity to go buy a new oneRS Gold
