    you have spoted in the wild?

    For me it was the PPC Ref 5021 I saw just meters outside my house that an Italian guy was wearing and I still cannot believe it.

    Watch in the wild

    I have to exclude all the watches seen at SIHH, that was not the wild, that was fairyland.

    Some ten years ago I was standing in a small cable car near Flims (Switzerland), going up to a mountain top. A man next to me wore a gold Novecento Perpetual Calendar, very classy, and far too beautiful for a mountain hike. His wife had a gold Portofino. I felt a bit humble with my titanium quartz GST Chrono, but there were 3 IWC's out of not even 10 people. As the man noticed my watching of his watch he held it in such a way that I could look at it a bit better. We never spoke a word.

    I remember eating sushi in Geneva

    and the man at the next table was wearing a Jubilee Portugieser, and if I remember correctly it was the platinum version- pretty special.

    Platinum Grande Complicated at Starbuck's...

    I was having coffee with my wife and daughter at Starbucks (of all places) near my home. A mature gentleman greeted us with a smile, and waved hello at my little girl - I noticed his Grande Complication immediately, with that beveled case, and the minute repeating slide!!!

    I commented that I was a big fan of his watch - I was wearing my Rose Gold DaVinci Kurt Klaus - and I showed him. He was so enthusiastic and happy to even see my watch.

    Then, only about 60 seconds later, his Maybach 62 pulled up and his driver stepped out to the curb. He got up and we shook hands - and that was it.

    I have no idea who he was.

    I was at a restaurant in the Napa Valley...

    when I noticed the guy at the next table was wearing a 5001. Except his was the gold version. I had on the steel white dial. We immediately started talking about our watches to the consternation of our wives.

    Da Vinci Perpet and GST dobbelchrono

    Here in Belgium, it is very rare to spot a IWC in the wild , I once saw a gentleman wearing a Da Vinci perpetual at a restaurant table, we talked about the wxatch and he was surprised that someone recognised the watch.
    Last month I was in a course of financial planning and my neigbour at the table had a GST dobbelchrono, I was wearing the GST perpertual , so big surprise for both of us.

    He had my Portuguese MR (and he won't give it back!)

    And he had a couple of trinkets from Schaffhausen.
