When a Norwegian meets a Singaporean in Kuala Lumpur

A scheduled meeting made in Geneva 2012 came to fruition when a Norwegian and a Singaporean met on Tuesday 28th Feb in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. The weather was beautiful, the anticipation and excitement to meet a fellow Scandinavian IWC collector in Asia even better.

I arrived at the Shangrila Hotel and guess what? A gift all the way from Norway!

It looks like a delicious box of milk chocolates from Skule, handheld all the way from Norway, past the Schipol airport in Amsterdam and finally in KL. What a delight and a nice gesture from this fine gentleman.

We wasted no time and got down to actual 'business' fairly quickly. We started with this one and it wasn't long before we had a tray of IWCs before us!

Comparing the 502213 and the 502306...Hmmm...

I am sure you guys would agree that it looks great on my wrist just as it is on Skule's wrist.

Having the Portuguese Chrono in between the Portuguese perpetual. The size of the Portuguese Chrono is a tad smaller.

Finally, Skule's top 3 choices. I must say I am quite impressed with YC Volvo Ocean Race edition in titanium. Impressive carbon fibre dial with an alluring 3-D effect. It may be making its way into my collection soon!

It was wonderful to play host in a foreign country for a fellow collector. The watches are great, the company even better. I am sure all of you will agree that it's the friendship forged that goes a long way and I truly appreciate every member from this forum who has touched me in one way or another.

KS Low - what a host - and just as I am typing this the PPC "clicked" and made the full transition to Thursday March 1st!!!

This was another momentous occasion for me, my first visit to an IWC store - and I could not have been in better company. I have never tried on so many watches - I can just hope another IWC will come my way soon:-)

If you pay attention to the images you will find a combination that does not exist!!! I will not tell you which one, you will have to find out - but I will try to make it happen someday!!

The staff at the KL store were extremely helpful and we spent a good 1,5 hours in there enjoying the hardware. And then I enjoyed a good meal and great conversation with a very good friend even more.

I don't think that chrono Ingenieur comes with a rubber strap. Am I correct?

Right you are Alan - I really want that Big Ingenieur Chronograph on a rubber strap. After seeing what the differences really are in the KL store - and the staff there vere again very helpful taking the straps off both watches - and a couple of nights throwing ideas around in my head, I think I may have a decent solution.

Maybe this will be my second IWC???

Shing - indeed, I can promise you that I will make it to HK either in 2012 or 2013. And when I do you will be the first one to know, I can't wait to see "your" IWC apartment :-)

So what is the solution?

@Arg, I do agree with your statement 100%. My girl friend said the same thing about my bad photographic skills(if any). I blame it simply for the lack of attention and nonchalant attitude I have when taking photos. I guess I got to start learning soon and get ahead of you and Jim.

@Alan, Skule is probably on his way back to Norway. The systems for the two ingenieurs are different although the straps width at the lugs are the same. I am sure with his 'engineer' mind, he will figure out something. He's quite adamant at getting a rubber strap to fit that watch!

Skule's mind being poluted? Hard to think of his next watch not being another Portuguese.

However, I would think it's more like "being positivly influenced" - and having a good mentor and conniseur like KS Low doing the influencing I can actually begin to believe thaqt Skule's next watch just might be the Deep Two!

IWC organizes an 2012 Pilot novelities event at the flagship tonight. I will be meeting a lot of fellow forumers. We will have a lot of fun.

Alan - I will let you all know when, not if, I actually have acquired the watch - and when I have implemented the solution to my satisfaction :o)
