Honestly gents, how many of you wouldn't like, no LOVE, to own a Porsche?

I claim that from the first time small boys start playing with toy cars there is a certain part in our brain that is instantly triggered and there is a special connection created for the design of that most special brand from Stuttgart.

So, after having a plethora of toy cars to play with, and eagerly watching anything on TV that had car racing in it, this story goes back to the year of 1980 and when my aunt and uncle take me to my first real car show at the age 11.
And there I see it for the first time in real life - a brand new dark purple Porsche 911 Turbo! Wow, what a dream machine, that design, those curves, that stance, those hipps, those wheels, that rear spoiler - we were walking around at the show for more than 3 hours, seeing Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Maseratis, Bentleys, Aston Martins, dragsters, muscle cars, race cars, Formula 1 cars - but nothings triggered that part of my brain like the Porsche. I actually went back to look at it 3 times.

So this is a car story with a happy ending then? On a watch forum?

Of course not. This is an unhappy car story with a happy ending. On a watch forum. Which includes watches of course :-)

Fast forward 34 years and I can finally afford a car with that famous yellow and red shield logo on the bonnet. Even if it isn't a 1980 Porsche 911 Turbo the Panamera 4S is more "grown up" and slightly more user friendly - I can even get all my bicycles into it;-)
But, this is a sad story remember? And guess what, in January I managed to slide off the road with the Panamera on a very snowy and icy afternoon and I hit a tree. Unfortunately those trees don't move much and the Porsche got banged up pretty bad in the front, even if I wasn't doing much more than 50 km/h at the time.
So there I was, in the middle of the dark, cold depressing winter with my Porsche gone into the workshop for a solid spa treatment, and I knew it would be several weeks until I would see it again.

What is a man to do? Well I kept seeking comfort from the best place I knew, this forum, and from my many good friends around the world that I have found thru this forum.
When I first discovered IWC I did not know there was a big connection between IWC and Porsche, but this of course just made me appreciate the brand even more and I just knew that I had to own a Porsche Design watch or two at some point.

So, with my beloved Porsche at the workshop I was in serious Porsche withdrawl, suffering all the normal symptoms - cold sweats, elevated heart rate, no appetite, no energy, disillusion aso. Then a good friend came to the rescue with the inspiration I needed to get out of my depression. Mr. Mark Levinsohn (8541) had recently acquired a super cool Porsche Design chronograph in aluminum - and I suddenly saw an opportunity. With my one Porsche gone, maybe now was the time to get another Porsche, one for the wrist?

But which one? Over the past few years I had seen and read about several really cool pieces on this fine forum and my hunt began. The first one I had noticed was the very unique PD compass watch, and you could even get it with that gorgeous italic IWC logo, and with PD on the dial - oh, I just had to have one.
But then that black aluminum chronograph that Mark had shown was so chunky and cool as well - maybe I can find one of those?
And while I'm at it, how about the coolest Porsche of them all, the 911 Turbo of watches, that uber-cool Ocean 2000 that SC Fong has shown several times, a 2000m titanium design pearl - and you know I have a serious weakspot for titanium.

Well, I guess you all know where this was going - yes, in my emotionally reduced and Porsche yearning state I went out and got all three :-)

Crazy? For sure. But then again life is so much more fun with a little crazy in it ;-)

So here they are, now that the Panamera is like brand new after a proper spa treatment, a tripple reveal from a very happy (and slightly crazy) owner of four Porsches :-)

The very unique PD Compass watch:
    [i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h341/Skule/2016_03_19%20IWC%20Porsche%20Design%20tripple/image_zpsdf5zued3.jpeg](s1105.photobucket.com/user/Skule/media/2016_03_19%20IWC%20Porsche%20Design%20tripple/image_zpsdf5zued3.jpeg.html)
    [i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h341/Skule/2016_03_19%20IWC%20Porsche%20Design%20tripple/image_zpsn9pvktza.jpeg](s1105.photobucket.com/user/Skule/media/2016_03_19%20IWC%20Porsche%20Design%20tripple/image_zpsn9pvktza.jpeg.html)

    Love the compass:
    [i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h341/Skule/2016_03_19%20IWC%20Porsche%20Design%20tripple/image_zpsejq4hxun.jpeg](s1105.photobucket.com/user/Skule/media/2016_03_19%20IWC%20Porsche%20Design%20tripple/image_zpsejq4hxun.jpeg.html)

    And on the wrist:
    [i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h341/Skule/2016_03_19%20IWC%20Porsche%20Design%20tripple/image_zpsoxrv5acq.jpeg](s1105.photobucket.com/user/Skule/media/2016_03_19%20IWC%20Porsche%20Design%20tripple/image_zpsoxrv5acq.jpeg.html)

Number two, the block of aluminum, my first and only aluminum watch:
    [i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h341/Skule/2016_03_19%20IWC%20Porsche%20Design%20tripple/image_zpshexe9kyu.jpeg](s1105.photobucket.com/user/Skule/media/2016_03_19%20IWC%20Porsche%20Design%20tripple/image_zpshexe9kyu.jpeg.html)
    [i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h341/Skule/2016_03_19%20IWC%20Porsche%20Design%20tripple/image_zpsvmhbil6s.jpeg](s1105.photobucket.com/user/Skule/media/2016_03_19%20IWC%20Porsche%20Design%20tripple/image_zpsvmhbil6s.jpeg.html)

And the king of the trifecta, a watch which will always remind me of Giovanni as I know he loved the 2000 meter IWC watches and because I had just closed the deal on this one when we received the word that Giovanni had left us way, way to early. This one is for you my friend!
    [i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h341/Skule/2016_03_19%20IWC%20Porsche%20Design%20tripple/image_zps0gaglvpz.jpeg](s1105.photobucket.com/user/Skule/media/2016_03_19%20IWC%20Porsche%20Design%20tripple/image_zps0gaglvpz.jpeg.html)
    [i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h341/Skule/2016_03_19%20IWC%20Porsche%20Design%20tripple/image_zpsekln3sni.jpeg](s1105.photobucket.com/user/Skule/media/2016_03_19%20IWC%20Porsche%20Design%20tripple/image_zpsekln3sni.jpeg.html)

I was lucky enough to find one of the 3rd generation 2000s with the latest improved bracelet and the super clean "Porsche Design by IWC" face which suits this industrial design super cool watch the best - IMHO:
    [i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h341/Skule/2016_03_19%20IWC%20Porsche%20Design%20tripple/image_zpsmwfnns1m.jpeg](s1105.photobucket.com/user/Skule/media/2016_03_19%20IWC%20Porsche%20Design%20tripple/image_zpsmwfnns1m.jpeg.html)

PS! I have had reveals in the past, I have had a double reveal in the past, and I have now had a tripple reveal. But trust me, there will be no quattruple reveal - I ain't that crazy!

    (Famous last words ;-))

Thanks for watching - and for reading!

    Skule, this is a mind blowing reveal 1 - 2 - 3 BOOM!

What a trio - very happy for you with this superb addition(s) to your collection.

... And Yes, I definately think you should make it a "quad" - and that you should add a special ladies PD to the stable, and get Mrs. Skule that matching dial!

I mean - Just how cool would that be!

A real trifecta there my friend.

I only have one PD. Unfortunately, as much as I like it, it gets very little wrist time anymore. It sits in the dark in my safe most of the time.

Once again, congrats. Wear them in good health.

Wow Skule, what an amazing reveal! Good to hear your Panamera is repaired so you can enjoy wearing a few Porsches on your wrist while driving one!

    Kind regards,

    Clemens

PS: You know that I now am almost obliged to go look for a Porsche Design watch myself don't you ;-)

The PD's are my favorite older IWC's. A huge congratulations to you, Skule. I would be happy to own any of those three...but all three at once...outstanding!

My Porsche Design 'collection' is limited to two, for now:

Great reveal - great watches!! Congrats..

Especially the Ocean 2000 is a "dreamwatch" for me.

When it was new, I didn't buy it because I thought it might be to big for my wrist - nowadays it just looks perfect! :)

    Enjoy these beauties!

    Regards
    Thomas
