The only thing I have requested, that I would like to have the updated new
fish crown. The case was still in great shape for the age of the watch and I
am not aware of any updated parts within the movement.

Clem, I appreciate the reply. The dealer told me that the crown was not
replaced during service as it was not defective. Also, I just heard back from
him regarding age of the watch (I asked because the warranty card is not
dated). He said his rep told him the serial number was produced in 2016. I
was thinking the 5002 stopped production before 2016, but not sure.
Have you seen it in person?
If it is a 2016 model that would make it a 5009 not a 5002.
The 5002 was only made until 2005.
This is a series of pictures taken to compare the polish (sharpness of the
edges) to a new 5009. Maybe the movement was changed out with a new movement
and the dealer does not know.
Something is off..... I would get them to reconfirm the serial number of the
5002. Changing the movement wouldn't change the serial number to reflect a
movement replacement as far as I know..
I just responded to the dealer and he gave me the first three of the serial
number 289. From what I can find this serial is between 2000 and 2003. Lazy
rep maybe?
Two things to consider:
1. If you plan on wearing the watch, it will eventually need to be serviced.
2. There is a reason for the movement parts to be upgraded.
Honestly I am not able to see a difference...
Joshua, what was the outcome here. Which watch did you get?

Mark, with everything going on I have yet to go with either. I probably will
not make a move for a few weeks.

Quick update and question...
Although I took myself out of the market when this pandemic became real, I
just saw that the Original Owner BP 5002 I was contemplating sold. This is
the one I was most intrigued by so even without the uncertainty COVID-19 has
brought, I plan to keep looking.
I did notice a Safari recently came up for sale which is interesting as I have
not seen one for sale. This makes me wonder if I would buy a 5002 or a
Safari. I know there is a big price difference. What would you do...buy a
5002 since it is the original or the Safari since it is so limited.
I think I would buy the Safari since it is so limited and then look for a 5002
in the future.
The Safari is a better watch. But the 5002 is a cooler watch. That doesn't
help, does it?
I'm not in the market for either, but I would prefer the Safari. I like more
modern watches for daily wear, and I'm a huge fan of titanium watches. I
imagine if I were the kind of collector that put watches in the safe instead
of on my wrist, I would prefer an original 5002.
It all depends what catches your fancy more.
5002s will generally be available in some form or another down the road while
the Safari is very limited.
There are those who are content with owning one or another and there are those
"purists" who would choose a 5002 over the Safari.
I own a Safari and I love it. I was actually contemplating the acquisition of
a 5002 until the Safari came up. That being said, as a collector I would
definitely still consider a 5002 down the road for it's heritage.
Update:
Choice A actually came back for sale recently and I made sure I did not miss
out on it again.
I appreciate everyone's input.
Big congrats Jack - can't wait to see some pictures! By the way - are you from
Wichita?
Thank you! I'll post some when she arrives...(~);-}
Cheers;)
