    Hello,

I'm new to the horology world so still soaking it all in. I love IWC and specifically I love the BP. I'm considering buying the BP in steel as a birthday present to myself (the big 3-0). I need opinions on whether to purchase a new 5004 or a used 5002? I'm partial to the 5002 dial and I've heard rumors that the movement is better--something about being, "low beat". What does that mean, and what the difference between the 5002 and 5004 movement? Thanks in advance, guys.

    Cheers from New York.

    Which Big Pilot to purchase?

Stretch the budget and go for the BP 5004 in White Gold (it can be part of your 40th too!)

    Which Big Pilot to purchase?

Well, I'd love too, but steel is stretching the budget enough...After extensive research of the forum archives I think I'm going to go for the 5002. The tradition behind the calibre 5011 and the 5002 dial are enough reason to go for this model. Now my only problem is: Does anyone have an extra BP 5002 that they'd like to sell? cheers

I think this it he right choice. The new dial just does not do it quite so much for me. Sorry mine's not for sale.
    Happy hunting.
