On Wednesday I will be part of a group of fund raisers cycling from London to Champagne. The funds Raised are for two worthy causes and supported by Laureus. Laureus are organizing the event offering all logistical staff and support. After I arrive in Champagne - I will not join the rest of the group and head back to London by train. Instead I will head back onto my bike with another 520 km or so ahead of me to arrive back at my home in Basel.

I don't have the full Laureus family as you can see in the photos - so I have only limited choice. The new Laureus Portofino chrono which I ordered during SIHH will only be with me in September. All best efforts by the IWC Swiss Staff and my local dealer were not met with success.

So, what advice do you have for me in terms of which watch to accompany me on my trip ?

For anyone wishing to support these great causes you can do so by clicking here to support Laureus

I have a selection of Laureus and IWC Schaffhausen goodies that can be won by all supporters via a random drawing once I get back home. Thank you to Olivers team - Andreas and Keren for arranging that and thanks to those of you who have already donated generously.

Andrew, has to be the Chrono.....it's the sporty one of the bunch (of oh so nice watches)!

But which of the two chrono's - up to you.

Good luck Thomas and all the best for a safe journey. I think it should be the Pilots chrono as the others area bit too dressy for the occasion. Regards

I love the Portuguese series but not in Laureus guise. However the Laureus pilot and Ingie are sublime. I'd wear the Portuguese chrono, that's because it's probably the cheapest to repair if you take a tumble and scratch the upper case or crystal. The rest should be in the bank.

    Andrew,

Since this is a "Sporty" event, my vote would be the Pilot for the ride and if possible, the Port Chrono for after ride casual time. BTW, all 4 are beautiful pieces.

    Safe travels,

    Andy

Andrew wishing you all the very Best ! As always I am bit biased -It has to be the ING with its solid 80111 calibre, suitable for any and every occasion.

Definitely the Laureus Spitfire Laureus. My choice only because it's the one I own. Guten fahrt on your expedition. I am happy to be one of your sponsors.

    Andrew,

You will need an Aquatimer. The weather is filthy and is likely to continue. I suspect the Ingenieur may have the best water protection. See you soon.

    Kind regards,

    Ralph

The heck with a nice watch (unless you need a distraction and a motivational piece). I'd take 3 cases of 5 Hour Energy Drink!

I believe for the first time I will agree with majority and take the Laureus Pilots (the leather strap is ready for the bin soon anyway). Coincidentally this is the watch the Miguel Indurain wore last year at the Laureus London to Basel ride (he got is as a gift from his wife).

I will also heed the advice of Larry too.....lots of energy food and drinks....

    Thanks for your support everyone,

    Dear Andrew,

Have a great ride! As for the watch: I understand your choice for the Pilot's Chrono. Personally I would have chosen the Ingenieur :-)

    Kind regards,

    Clemens
