I'm hoping you can help me, I want to purchase my first IWC and have come across the watch below but it doesn't look a familiar model.

Does anyone know what model it is, or how old it might be? I also wonder whether it's genuine?

    MANY thanks in advance!

    I may be wrong but I think it's REFERENCE/MODEL - FAKE

    Andy's right; it's fake.

That is curious. Apparently somehow the "creator" of the dial got IWC mixed up with Rolex (or any other brand with COSC certified movements). As I'm not aware, please anyone correct me if I'm wrong, of any IWC having been COSC certified (IWC has its own parameters for evaluation of a movement's accuracy), the "officially certified chronometer" that I'm pretty sure I can fathom in the lower half of the dial gives it away very clearly.

    Sorry.

There have been COSC certified IWCs in prior years. The most recent I believe was the reference 3521 Ingenieur for which production ceased around 1999, and which was last in the 2000 catalog.

    Thank you Michael!

    I here stand corrected...

I'm going to immerse myself in the old IWC catalogues...

@MF. Glad you pointed this one out. I would have guessed it to also be fake.

I am still surprised at how often I am fooled by these requests to authenticate watches. I guess it's just 'buyer beware".

I own this watch (with white face)and it is at least for me, one of the most beautiful and well proportioned IWC ever made. It is a really high accurate chronometer (Of course, I´m talking about the 3521)

    Hola Arqui,

Hope all is well in Buenos Aires.
Congratulations, it is a really beautiful watch. Since I found out about them I've been very interested in this model. How does it compare in accuracy with other IWCs?

    Cheers!
