Every Friday I'll nominate a theme - contemporary, vintage, calibre, reference, complication, case, markers, lugs and even memorabilia and please tell us why it is special to you.

You don't even have to own the watch, just desire it or be something special to you. The series is in the Gallery section so please post images if possible (check the archive or search online).

This weeks theme is Moonphase. So lets see your favourite moonphase

Here's the one I like most and maybe I'll get a chance to own one, oneday.

Ref 5510 - What else has a great big smiling moon?

    Cheers from the cellar

I often like to remind myself IWC held the record producing the thinnest perpetual calendar for a long time. Actually I don't know if this record was broken.

About moonphase, I like this Romana very much!

Full moon today - how appropriate Cellar. The moonphase - not any one phase in particular but its perpetuating ritual - is very special to me because of two reasons. One, it transmits the ethereal quality that sits so sophistically with this dial. Two, it provides the constancy that anchors perpetuity: a moonphase is the same sometime in the next month. Wherever we are, we look to the same moon, whereas time knows no master - it marches forward a tick at a time.

    5250/5251 for me.

I really need to get these out of the safe and let them see the light of day more often. Maybe even some new photos?

I did not say why it is special to me.
Because I searched for one for several years, because it is beautiful an rare, because it was originally sold to Portugal, and because I bought it from the original owner.

My only moon watch. Eight years ago this was my perfect watch, even the perfect moon: for the northern AND southern hemisphere. I just like symmetry and the fact that something is useful under all circumstances.

    Kind regards,
    Paul
