Will IWC be represented at the "Scotches & Watches" evening in Vancouver, BC on Monday, November 30? My invitation says that Presidents and senior members of A. Lange & Söhne, Blancpain, Breguet, Bulgari, Corum, Girard-Perregaux, Harry Winston, Roger Dubuis, Wellendorf, Droz "and others" will be flying into Vancouver to present their latest collections, "including rare pieces." Montecristo Jewellers are hyping the event (famous Chef, Macallan Whiskies, etc.) so I was surprised to see that IWC was not listed on the invitation - particularly since they are an AD and have a full counter devoted to IWC at the location where the event is taking place. I'm hoping that someone senior from IWC will be there with some "rare pieces" - though in Vancouver, even a white gold/single moon perpetual calendar Portuguese is considered rare (as I'm told that no one has ever carried one locally!). BTW: If someone at IWC will be attending and has had this post brought to their attention, may I ask that you also bring a CF3 and a Portuguese Hand-Wound Boutique Edition? I'd love to see those two in-person!

Hello, I forwarded your question to the people in Schaffhausen. About bringing a CF3, could be difficult, I do not know if there still is one for sale.

Schaffhausen wouldn't know, since such events are initiated and implemented by IWC North America, with HQ in NYC.

Unfortunately, there are no such plans to my knowledge. There may be 1 or 2 CF3s left in US boutiques, but even if IWC were attending ending the event for several reasons it would be very difficult to bring one.

    Sorry!

Hello, Schaffhausen confirmed, after contact with IWC North America, that there are indeed no plans regarding this event.

Sounds like a missed opportunity for IWC. The market for high-end watches in Vancouver is driven by ultra-wealthy Chinese buyers (the biggest buyers of high-end watches globally) and the event is focused on selling them the most expensive pieces in each brand's collection. I read somewhere that mainland Chinese prefer to buy their watches overseas - and Vancouver is one of the most popular destinations for them. (In fact, mainland Chinese own a large percentage of Vancouver's luxury homes). Considering that the event is being held at an IWC AD, it should have been an ideal event for IWC to participate in. BTW: if anyone in IWC management is monitoring this discussion, these factors (combined with the limited selection available locally) also speak to opening an IWC boutique in Vancouver :)
