It seems a series of Ur-Portugiesers came back to the surface these days...
This one has a little extra: it comes with the original box. Have you ever seen one? In those days they were for sure much smaller than today's mega-wooden cases.
The logo on the box is a woman seen from the back sitting on the letters IWC, which are above a nice coat of arms.

    I have never

seen this box before - but I have a similar box (same logo and colour) and in similar condition but of different dimensions.....22 cm x 45 mm x 25 mm (l x b x h). I dont know which watch came with the box I have but I presume a ladies one.

Its amazing to see this watch with an original box. Wow.

you show the box - but

what type of papers do you have - only answer if you dont feel the question over curious or inappropriate.

Nice. But the buckle appears modern...

Looks like a great watch from that photo. I wonder why it has the original box, but obviously a new buckle on the strap?

Now I understand why you save the box...

so that some forum member in 2048 can show a fine acquisition with the original box.

Definitely Richard but, you wouldn't want the OEM

strap on her. Much better to be able to wear her gently with a new strap as shown.

    Very nice find ...

I too once found an IWC in a box that had never grown old. A link to the tale follows if you have an interest.

    Enjoy your find!

Nice. But the buckle appears modern...

Actually, the watch came with the original buckle as well, but I got the whole strap (temporarily) replaced. As the buckle is thinner than modern ones, you have to make a special order for a new strap.

you show the box - but

I actually only have the classic extracts from IWC, the title was more a reference to the classical reassuring "additional info" about a second-hand watch somebody tries to sell you.

    Here's mine ... identical

    Hello

I recently acquired this for my ref. 325 Portugieser ... absolutely identical, just slightly more burgundy than brown. The watch sits in it with a few mm to spare !

    Congrats

Awesome dial, Thanks for sharing >>>

I love the early Portugieser dials and wish the modern ones came with this same character. Perhaps IWC can look into recreating this?

"VC line": an end or a beginning?

The VC line seems not to be designed as such: I read somewhere that these watches are to be viewed as part of the individual families. Still, if these VC watches prove to be successful, this could convince IWC to put some more modern vintage watches on the market the next few years, thereby inspired by those beautiful old dials.

    Kind regards,
    Paul, wearing Portuguese Perpetual Calendar
