Just went close to 1881 Heritage last Saturday and decided to have a try on the Big Pilot (my next target after the Port 7) without the plan to buy immediately.

The IWC representative, Karen, has been so nice to me and my wife. We stayed for over an hour to get a touch to various pilot models, Karen has really brought me into IWC world as she was so kind and informative, and keen to chat with me on everything about the watches. Her recommendation made to my wife has been spot on and she is now seriously considering to get an Portuguese Chronograph as her next watch. I learned much IWC's history from Karen and that really gave me a great and pleasant evening at such a wonderfully decorated showroom.

Thank you Karen for giving me such a nice experience, your kindliness has really brought me closer to IWC. Thank you IWC, I love you and will definitely bring more of your watches home soon =)

It seems like another family got the IWC virus. LOL.

My IWC journey did start from the 1881 Flagship store two years ago. There are full of knowledgeable people. Not only myself got the virus, my 9 years old boy always asks for visiting the IWC 1881 store, every single time we are in TST.

    Well done, Karen.

Shing - what is the number of that unbelievable Portuguese skeleton??

That looks stunning - well the whole collection in your picture is stunning, but my eyes went to the skeleton one immediately :-)

    Hi Skule,

I believe it is this one, with very helpful information from our esteemed Cellar's website, it is the Portuguese F.A. Jones Squelette.

Introduced prior to Christmas 2005 exclusively for IWC Boutiques, Calibre 98910
    50 in platinum, black alligator-strap, Ref. 544205
100 in red gold, brown alligator-strap, Ref. 544206

Here's a pic. Flagship has started wrapping plastics too, because of the humidity etc. (per what I am told). Will post more pics from that day next week.

This is quite a wonderful collection, all watches are desirable to say the least. I have a weak spot for the rose gold Vintage Collection Pilot's watch, I didn't know it came on a black strap. And the skeleton Portuguese, what a marvel: did it get a new strap? I notice it has the same buckle as the Portofino 8 days handwound, yet another favourite of mine. Of course it is great to see those watches, but how about the feeling of pain, having to say goodbye to them?

    Kind regards,
    Paul

    Hi Paul :)

Pictures make the fond goodbyes easier :)) and there is always the pleasant emotional tension and gently-roiling turmoil that makes the "chase" so very human - what with some longing and some despair too. Won't u agree ?

Yeah the VC Pilot I requested for to take pics for someone I count as a good online friend - whom you are likely to know. Some pics here for him !

Just for the record, the Vintage Collection Pilot's Watch in gold has a dark brown strap, and not a black one.

    Hi Shing,

Thank you so very much for your surprise of showing the rose gold Vintage Collection Pilot's watch. Those pictures confirm how great it looks, at least to me. It suddenly occurs to me that this one has a dark brown or black dial, the regular one has a light cream dial: I remember there was a limited edition with the dark dial a few years ago. Having a dark brown strap (thank you, Michael) makes it about a perfect watch.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

Bit of high price Hardware there, spoilt for choice but the RG Portofino HW 8 day has real appeal.

Great comments on the store. I have recently been in contact with Karen and she is very nice and very professional.

I put a deposit on a hard to locate item and My wife and I will be taking a vacation to Hong Kong especially for 1 watch. A week in Hong Kong is the added bonus. :)
