    Hi -

Can someone direct me to a source that gives the year of manufacture of my IWC Aquatimer 2000? The serial # is: 2953XXX.

    Thank you -

    Richard

for contemporary watches you need to extrapolate

    Hi Richard,

There's no printed or official information for watches less than 10 years old. However, what you can do is find a watch with a known date and guess from there.

I have a watch that was publicly introduced in April 2002, and I'd guess was manufactured at the end of 2001 (it was in the stores in June but I got mine that April). It has a case serial number about 72,000 lower than yours.

Now --while we don't know IWC's exact production quantities nor that all numbers are perfectly consecutive (although they generally are close), I would guess that you watch is two years' later than mine. Therefore, the best I think we cold say is that it was manufactured no earlier than 2003 nor later than 2005, although it might have taken a little longer to be distributed and then sold.

I would guess 2004 since that's when the then-new Aquatimers debuted.

    Regards,
    Michael

    Levinsohn to Levenson...

I concur with MF. The date he suggestsm is about right...but the only way to know for sure, is to hold on to that beauty of a watch for another 6 years at least, and then request an extract of the register from IWC.
