So this is for me a perfect combo to collect, the IWC chrono limited edition
on 50 pieces for Mercedes AMG F1 with a carbon dial with the lower rear wing
of the W04 from Lewis Hamilton.
Any other F1 addicts here ?

Goal: Assemble a whole, complete F1 racing car piece by piece. Just like
Johnny cash did with a Cadillac.
Thats fantastic Tonny - what a hi-tech piece to have
If LH goes missing one day we'll know where to find him... HAHAHA
Really cool Tonny, love it!
I love F1 too, and of course the Mercedes AMG F1 team is my favorite.
That's amazing Tonny! My friend Edo and I really like this version of the
Pilot Chrono - think it's just done right in every single way.
I'm really curious to know how much that lower rear wing weighs - wouldn't
surprise me if it weighed the same or just a little more than the watch. I
posted some pics of my carbon fiber Ingenieur when my birthday present
arrived and when I went to the #1000
Grand Prix held in Shanghai.
I've actually been thinking recently why has IWC basically abandoned (in more
ways than one) and disassociated the Ingenieur with F1.
The Ingenieur's storyline was rebranded in 2013 to be the watch partnered with
the Mercedes F1 team, but the branding and imaging was never really pushed,
and now the Ingenieur almost has no presence in F1. The only time I see the
Ingenieur associated with the Mercedes F1 team is on the wrists of the pit
crew and engineers wearing Ingenieurs (and I love it)--but that's it.
The Pilots line is basically the unofficial Mercedes F1 watch for a few years
now--both drivers (and their gloves), Toto, Andrew Shovelin wear Pilots--the
F1 branding is all about the Pilots watch.
My guess is that the Pilots line is more popular and what sells best (for sure
Pilot sells 100x better than the Ingenieur), so IWC just stopped their efforts
with the Ingenieur.
The Ingenieur is my favorite line (not including the current generation), so
I'm biased and wish IWC would've used the Ingenieur more in F1. I bought my
Ingenieur because I love F1 and the Mercedes AMG F1 team is my favorite team,
but the lack of Ingenieur presence has been a downer.
Thoughts from the forum on why the Ingenieur doesn't fit the F1 branding any
longer?
I am an a F1 fan with a long standing interest in the sport and a connection
with the Mercedes team. I love the rear wing set and the watch, Tonny. Until
IWC produces a watch that can time a pit stop (and Mercedes make it easy by
taking their time), I fail to see the connection between today's sport and
mechanical watches.
Definitely. This is probably the best-looking Pilot's Chrono ever made. It's a
shame that it was so limited. Every single element is just exquisite
especially that dial.
Congrats, Tony. What an incredible timepiece.
There is of course no real connection- it is just a marketing exerice based on
alleged synergies... But- marketing sells watches (at least to some people).
Now- my old classic car from 1967 has gauges and a clock made by a well-known
English watch manufacture; that is a real partnership.
