Today I had an appointment in Zürich and since I need to eat I decided to head onto Bannhofstrasse for lunch - the best place to head for watch lovers.

After passing Les Ambassadeurs with a wonderful window-full of IWC watches - including some Portuguese chronos with diamonds (white gold, rose gold models) and also a white gold one with a WHITE strap (wow), a VC Aquatimer (the first one I have seen in a shop window) as well as three different models of the "Precious Stones" Da Vinci) - I reached my intended destination - The IWC boutique.

I was welcomed with a very nice surprise - the manager is a close acquaintance of mine - and another forum member too - and we talked for 30 minutes whilst I was trying on the several watches he was kind enough to let me: eg A truly very stunning beautiful Portuguesser Regular Tourbillon (Platinum), VC Da Vinci (platinum) and several white gold complications.......The white gold Big Pilot is stunningly as beautiful as the photos you see in the forum.

Of course as watch-men we gossiped and speculated about 2009 and I was offered some interesting perspectives (fact or fiction - time will tell) on what Dec 2008 and Jan 2009 will bring........

Unfortunately I had no camera to share these experiences.

What a great way to have lunch.....(I forgot to eat though)

Andrew, please share some of the >>>>

.......'fact or fiction' with us ;-)))

Unless your discussion was strictly confidential, I am sure that the forum embers here will take it with a 'grain of salt'!!!

Your report makes me hungry :-)

    Hi Andrew,

    Thanks for the nice report!

I visited my AD this afternoon and he just received a WG 5001. I was wearing my steel 5001 today so I could compare them side by side. The weight difference is quite noticeable and the Ardoise dial is really stunning. Having both side by side, the difference between the steel and white gold case was clearly visible too. I did not buy it by the way ;-)

    Kind regards,

    Clemens

    Zürich boutique

Living in the near suburbs of Zurich and beeing a regular visitor to the Bahhoftsrasse makes one here sometimes a little bit "overwatched" ...

Most of the Watches that other folks, living in areas on the world where the density of the fancy watch selling shops isn't quite the same like here in Zurich, only know from the internet, from high gloss magazines or from the respectice catalogue, are very open and nicely displaced here and therefore a very common sight for my own eyes... even if I can not afford to get them all... :-))

For that reason, a swing over to, and a stop at, the IWC boutique, is always mandantory... (My wife has just recently asked me, if I have realized that my shopping behaviour is turning a slight little bit towards the behaviour of a dog - which seems to makes it a necesity for me to leave my "own marks" always at a certain and the same stores of the Bahnhofstrasse...

To cut a long story short here - The IWC Flagship Boutique is always worth to have a look or two or even to go inside...

see the "Post of the week"

I dont really wish to share any additional speculation that is already mentioned in a number of different guises in the forum - but I feel it is ok to write (moderator will decide) that several of the ideas suggested in the Post of the week have a good chance to become reality according to the information which was folowed by the statement "You heard it first here from the boutique - news straight from Schaffhausen this morning".....the first will arrive in December 2008, so not strictly part of the 2009 nouveaties.....
