    Who is this man?
    www.iwcforum.com/Kittlas.jpg
He's Hansjörg Kittlas --who is head of the haute horlogerie atelier at IWC. This section only assembles repeaters, tourbillions, Grande Complications and the Siderale.

There was a feature article about him, in IWC's magazine and also the "experiences" section of this website. You can read it by clicking here.
Herr Kittlas' speciality is repeaters, and in many ways they truly are the "love of his life".

But despite his specialty, and even the watch he's wearing in the article, want to know what IWC watch Herr Kittlas really wears? To him, it is the most special one--a gift on his engagement from the woman who now is his wife, and the true love of his life.

Interesting to know which watch a watchmaker wears.

An underestimated watch. I like this one very much.

The watch is the ref. 3520.

I, too, as a watchmaker wear another model PD by IWC ref. 3330 with the thin rubber strap. Both of these timepieces are extremely lightweight and hardly felt on the wrist which makes them a pleasure to wear at the watchmaking bench.

I concur with JF, The PD is a light weight joy to wear. It's like you have a naked wrist.

Here's mine and a friends as well.

I wear my Ocean 2000 Bund. It keeps incredible time--very light, and I have never seen anyone else wearing one.

Great post MF - now if ever there was "proof" in the fact that IWC watches with ETA base movements are no lesser IWC quality than in house movements we need look no further.

Good enough for Herrn. Hansjörg Kittlas - good enough for me!

I might add that on my recent visit to Schaffhausen I had the pleasure of a visit to his department and to meet with some of the team there. It is a tribute to IWC and Hansjörg's department, to see the passion that those young people have for their craft and quality they produce.

    Best regards

    Mark,

"High Fives" and a BIG "Thank You" for your perfect comment regarding ETA vs. In-House past ( and I'm sure ) future postings. Your thoughts to MF sum up my feelings exactly on this matter.

IMO, any future references on this subject should have a automatic default to your post. Again, just my opinion.

    Mark....Well Said !!!

    Hi "Oldman",

your alias suits as well as your Ocean Bund to an ancient navy wisdom "Keep the old man (Captain) informed in time" :-).
Here a 3529 in civil use after decomission.

I am pretty sure it is Kittlas' favorite watch - as he was wearing it also during my last factory visit and nothing can beat the love to a woman or your kids. But I also believe that it is not his only watch he wears :-)

By the way: Kurt Klaus wears "his" platinum DaVinci Perpetual ever since he got it. He had it on the wrist each time I met him. And from the way the watch looks, I am pretty sure it is his "daily rocker" watch :-)

    Regards,
    D.
