I've been looking for a vintage time piece for a while now and recently acquired a 1962 cal. 8531

I was wondering if you guys could tell me more about this piece. From what I was told, the crystal was replaced, the case was refinished, crown was refinished (but original) and the dial was re-painted. I was told that everything else is original to the watch and that this is not cobbled together from multiple watches.
Please don't be afraid to nitpick any inaccuracies or flaws.

It's beautiful and seems to run great. As a first time owner of a vintage timepiece, any tips would be appreciated

    Welcome to the Forum GDENON3
It's not a matter of what we think of the watch, the main thing is that you enjoy it.

As a newcomer to vintage watches, I can recommend the following before embarking on further vintage acquisitions.

    Preparation is KEY
. Know the Company, in this case IWC.
. Know what the Company made and when.
. Know the features of particular models.
. Study the scripts used for INTERNATIONAL WATCH COMPANY, SCHAFFHAUSEN. It has changed over time and varies from model to model.
. Narrow down the list of wants to particular models and research these models to the point that you know dial style and colour, lug, case, hand and crown variations.
. Now you are ready to shop and when you find something, a good evaluation of these features will give you the confidence to pull the trigger.

    Forearmed is forewarned.
With the correct information Vintage collecting is fun!

Could you point me in the direction of any literature or original pictures of my watch? Is there a certain model of my watch or is it just called out by the movement?

    thanks

Google is great to see other similar watches. For example I googled pictures of "IWC 810 A". Then you can compare your watch to others.

Thanks for your help. I had no idea the model of my watch was an 810A. I'll start researching based on that!

Your watch is not 810A. It has another model number. Maybe someone more knowledgable here on the forum can help?
