Well, it wasn't what I was expecting my next IWC to be, but I was at one of my favorite dealers the other day, and he's starting to carry a nice assortment of pre-owned watches. I saw this, without box or papers, but at a good price, and, since I have the car --

I figured I ought to have the watch too --

You might still be able to get the matching bracelet, which gives you two models for little more than the price of one. You will be able to order this from your local AD.

I've been considering that. But I like the strap very much -- it's quite comfortable. Perhaps if I can find a good example of the AMG Automatic (ref. 3227) with the caliber 80110 movement, I'd want both the strap and bracelet for that.

One day you might sell the watch, the bracelet will outlast and be more desireable than a rubber strap, which may or may not be a fashion monstrosity in 10/20 years. Get the bracelet and you are covered but the official bracelet will cost decent money and is the only option to buy.

I guess you mean to try and get the bracelet second hand, as production of it stopped years ago, or? I have the AMG Automatic on the bracelet: I almost would say, of course, as it is a wonderful bracelet, balancing the bit heavy watch well, and lasting forever, which cannot be said of the strap that came with it at the time.

I doubt you will pick one up second hand and there are fake stainless bracelets around and even gold bracelets. That is why I said from the AD authorised dealer. So it's time to inflict damage to your CC, but please do it before the option is gone.

Send an email to MF to see whether the AMG chrono bracelet is a match and if not a match will it fit?

    Frank, nice call!

Watch and car belong together. Both are fine examples of high engineering and at the top end of the industry they play in.

Drive safely, and wear that watch in good health.

    Best regards
    Mark

Thanks to all for their comments and suggestions.

I've gone ahead and ordered the titanium bracelet and a spare strap so I'm covered.

Now the big question is whether my banker will speak to me again if I go looking for the companion ref. 3227 in titanium. (My wife, on the other hand, is not a problem. She is quite agreeable to my occasional financial indiscretions -- perhaps because her being thus inclines me to overlook hers.)

I should have added that apparently the titanium bracelet is still available from IWC. My AD is ordering it for me from IWC.
