Last night, several Forum members and a group of guests were invited to the London Boutique to participate in a conversation between the Good Doctors: David Seyffer and Andrew Thomas. The Doctors were introduced by the Forum's Big Pilot collector Thang Vo Ta (TeeVeeTee) and just in case he was needed to intervene, Forum Moderator, Tonny Berteloot, was on hand.
As the conversation developed, Andrew's highly infectious passion for IWC cam across to all in the room. He reconciled his passion for collecting IWC watches with the ground breaking work his teams are doing in important areas of medical research; his devotion to the work of the Laureus charity and his insane need to cycle over 10,000 km a year on some of the most demanding roads in Europe for any cyclist.
As is often the case at get togethers, there was some impressive hardware on show, including a Big Pilot that Andrew had brought from Switzerland, a collection of rare pocket watches belonging to Tonny and many interesting pieces on wrists or pulled out of collectors' watch cases.
It was a very enjoyable evening which was so much more about sharing the passion than the art of collecting. Thank you to Ciaran and his team at the London Boutique or making us very welcome and organising a splendid event.
