Had my eyes on a blue dialed 866ad ca. 1970, 8541b comming up for auction here in Copenhagen, but I did not have the chance to see it in person. I have wanted a blue dialed Watch since I was a kid and fell in love with a Rolex datejust. Yesterday on auction day, I just took a wild chance and made a pretty low commission bid based on a pretty poor picture and description of the Watch, and then won the piece. At once I started to wonder why nowbody else has been bidding, and what was waiting for me at the auction house. Today I picked it up. I was stunned. The former owner has spend a minor fortune on an complete overhaul done by IWC in 2007, and it seemed like the Watch has not been used since. Receipt and extract from the ledger followed the Watch. The sun was shinning, the dial radiated the markers glowed, and I smiled back. New strap is already under way. What a nice day :-)
