Any ideas on how one could check for Serial no. 166325, Cal. 58. It appears to be a 1897 vintage "pocket watch" turned "wrist" time-piece. It would be appreciated if someone could suggest a way to check its authenticity. Thanks a ton!

Apparently you did already check the IWC archives and indeed the serial number indicates that the movement is from a pocket watch cal. 58 from 1897.
But if it is now a wrist watch than we are unfortunately talking about a marriage.
If you show a picture of the movement on this forum there are several pocket watch experts who can confirm whether the movement is authentic cal. 58 or not.
    Kind regards,

And while the movement might be in perfect running condition and keep good time (bearing in mind it's well over a hundred years old) you should be aware that these movements no matter how reliable they are, are not suited for wrist watches. This, given there was no such thing as Incabloc anti-shock in those days.

As for your question itself - you can try using the Date your IWC application which can be found on the web. This shows "The movement is a Sav. calibre 58, dating from the year 1897."

But only verification by photo and experts here can advise if it's a genuine / original movement.

Please do not post any link to the site selling this marriage watch - this forum is non commercial and the modurator would then need to delete your link/post.
